From next Monday and in the following days, elderly over the age of 85 and who live at home will start receiving appointment letters for the administration of the Covid-19 vaccine.
The letter will provide information that includes, dates, times and location for the first and second doses of the vaccine.
The Health Ministry in a statement, explained that the letter will be sent to the address that the elderly person has on their identity card and therefore the place chosen for the vaccination will also be in the vicinity of this address.
Elderly people who cannot leave their homes and who are registered with Commcare will not receive the letter of invitation with this group, as the necessary arrangements will be made for the Health Authorities to go to the the homes of these elderly people in the coming weeks.
The Ministry added that however, if these elderly have the means to attend the health centres for vaccination, they are asked to call 145 to enable an invitation letter to be sent out to them as soon as possible.
Elderly over the age of 85 who do not receive the letter by the end of next week are asked to call 145 to make the necessary arrangements.
The Health Ministry stressed that it is aware of the possibility that deceased persons may still be noted on the Health Authorities lists and it is therefore possible that these people will still receive an invitation at the last address they were registered.
While apologising for this possibility, the Ministry calls for the relatives of these people to call 145 and notify the authorities of this information.
