Halfpenny Yellows – Malta’s first stamp which appeared in 1860, are featured in a new exhibit by the Gozo Philatelic Society in their showcase at Il-Hagar.

The display includes background information, rare singles, a major part of a mint sheet, and covers. These envelopes, besides their philatelic interest, also offer details about Gozitan social aspects. It is not planned to replace this exhibit before Easter.

Il-Hagar also continues to host numerous other exhibits and exhibitions. The cultural centre, which is situated in St George’s Square, is open 9am to 5pm seven days a week – with no entrance fee.
