The MUT has said that it understands that “the health authorities programme for vaccination against Covid-19 of educators and school staff is progressing rapidly” and this week the first groups are receiving the vaccine.

It went on to say that the matter has been resolved with the health authorities regarding the issue that a number of Gozitan educators were asked to go to Malta for the vaccine.

The union clarified that an update on appointments is now being sent out for the vaccinations to be administered in Gozo.

The MUT stressed that it “trusts the medical experts to decide which vaccine should be given and to whom. Unless the MUT has advice to the contrary, as a union we have no position for or against the use of any of the vaccines.”

If there are personal issues, the MUT encouraged educators and school staff to always talk to their doctor to give them advice and direction as appropriate.

The MUT called on everyone “not to fall into populism and rumours that ultimately do more harm than good.”
