1,273 fines issued by enforcement authorities in one week1,273 fines have been issued to people in Gozo and Malta by the relevant authorities over the past week regarding the enforcement of Covid-19 regulations.

The Government said that between the 22nd and 28th of March, 1,031 people were fined for not wearing a mask. 225 people were fined for being in groups of more than four, which on Wednesday will change to groups of more than two people, unless they live in the same household.

There were 13 other people who were fined for violating other rules including those related to establishments, or the number of guests in a residence.

From the thousands of inspections carried out across the islands, authorities also found that 4 people were violating the quarantine order, who will receive a fine of €10,000 each.

Meanwhile, over the last week, Gozo District Police arrested and arraigned 2 men for driving a vehicle without a valid license and insurance and breaking bail conditions, among others.

The authorities warned that as we approach the Easter weekend, the enforcement bodies will increase their resources for carrying out inspections, and called for caution from the public.
