An award-winning power-saving device for PC has been launched in Malta by Innovative Solutions. The ecobutton is an innovative and tangible way of saving wasted energy from PC use that can clearly make a difference to PC power usage and help reduce carbon footprint while saving money on electricity bills.

The ecobutton is an intelligent and easy-to-use gadget. It is illuminated and sits on the table or desk top next to the keyboard. It connects to the computer via a USB cable and makes the PC go into deep sleep when the button is clicked, similar to hibernate. A small application is downloaded from eco-button.com. Computers and monitors can account for half of the electricity used in a typical office. A single monitor left switched on overnight can use the same energy as a laser printer producing 800 A4 printed copies. A business having 100 PC stations can save approximately €6,000 annually if its computers are switched on ecobotton’s ‘ecomode’ for 3 hours a day.

The ecobutton is available both for domestic use as well as for offices and businesses, and will be found at authorised re-sellers.
