PN spokesperson for Gozo Affairs, Chris Said has said that “the Government does not seem to want to honour the promise made to the Executive Secretaries in its electoral programme to elect the executive secretaries of the local councils in Scale 4 of the public sector.”
Said went on to say that “the law that established the Local Councils places great and important responsibilities on the executive secretary.”
” I acknowledged this when I was in charge of the Local Councils because I worked to improve the working conditions of the executive secretaries,” stated Dr Said. “I am proud that important decisions were taken at that time which helped them to have better conditions.”
The PN MP concluded by calling on the Government to “keep its word as expressed in the Labour Party’s electoral programme for the 2017 election and now that the Government has reached the last part of its’ legislature, will give the executive secretaries what they were promised.”
Last week the UHM Voice of the Workers issued directives to Executive Secretaries of all Local Councils to refuse to communicate by phone or email because they were not being incorporated in Scale 4 by the Government as had been promised.
