Gozo blood donation sessions today and Tuesday at Xewkija ClinicThe National Blood Transfusion Service has thanked everyone who called to donate blood at the Xewkija Clinic during the last session.

The Service has advised that there is a donation session today, Sunday, the 11th of July at the Centre in Xewkija from 8am to 1pm (last registration until 1pm). This will be followed by another session on Tuesday, the 13th of July from 1.00pm to 5.00pm (last registrations until 5pm).

The centre is located at the Xewkija Clinic, in Triq tall- Hamrija, between the Primary School and the Bocci Club.

The Service reminds everyone that it is important to always take your Identity Card, or Driving License or Maltese Passport and to drink plenty of water beforehand. Also, please encourage others to donate if possible.

Anyone currently waiting to take a Covid-19 test, or who has had the test and is waiting for the result, cannot give blood.

People with a fever or flu symptoms should wait 7 days before donating blood.

Anyone taking the vaccine must allow 48 hours to elapse before donating blood.

A blood donor must allow 7 days to elapse before taking the Covid-19 vaccine.

Meanwhile, the Service has advised that there is an additional donation session scheduled for this month, which will be Sunday, the 11th of July, from 8am till 1pm.
