34 new Covid-19 cases and 35 recoveries, 32 are in hospital, with 2 in ITU34 new Covid-19 cases have been found overnight from the 2,362 swab tests taken, making a positivity rate of 1.44%.

There have been 35 recoveries overnight, taking the number of active cases in Malta and Gozo down to 634.

A total of 32 Covid positive patients are currently being treated at Mater Dei Hospital, up from 27 yesterday, 2 of whom are in the ITU, up from 1 yesterday.

The total number of cases since the start of the pandemic in Malta is 36,123 and there have been 34,653 recoveries and 440 deaths.

1,187,198 swab tests have been taken since the start of the pandemic.

The number of vaccines administered is now at 795,649 up until yesterday, meaning that the number of fully vaccinated people has reached 412,062.

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control has advised that it will be reporting figures on a weekly basis – every Thursday. As of the 26th of August it shows that the number of cases recorded for Malta is at 35,831 and the number of deaths showing is 436. The 14-day cumulative number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 is 180.54.

The ECDC said that the above data are collected between Monday and Wednesday for the proceeding week.

The Ministry of Health called on the public to continue to follow the preventive measures – This includes wearing of masks, social distancing and hand hygiene.
