Through the signing of an Memorandum of Understanding, the Volunteer Centre in Gozo will be administered by the Council for the Voluntary Sector.

The Ministry for Gozo, the Parliamentary Secretariat for Sport, Recreation and Voluntary Organisations, and the Council for the Voluntary Sector will be collaborating so that the Volunteer Centre in Gozo is run by the same council, allowing Gozitan voluntary organisations better access to the services offered.

It was explained that this Centre will primarily serve to further develop volunteering in the Gozitan community, offer support to voluntary organisations in their day-to-day operations, and even serve as a base from which these organisations can operate.

The Council for the Voluntary Sector will be training the current staff in order for the Centre to be able to give support to Gozitan voluntary organisations in the best possible way.

The Council will also be cooperating with the Ministry for Gozo in the organisation of activities to promote this Centre with voluntary organisations.

Minister Clint Camilleri said, “such occasions clearly show that as a Ministry for Gozo we encourage and welcome various collaborations with various other Ministries. The aim of the Volunteer Centre is to serve to foster and develop volunteering in the community, as well as to support small and medium-sized voluntary organisations in their operation.”

Parliamentary Secretary Clifton Grima stressed that “we must continue to support the work of volunteering – a work that is based on the work done by volunteers in various areas and sectors of Maltese and Gozitan society.”

Among the services offered by this Centre, there are two offices that can be used by voluntary organisations to hold meetings, as well as a training room with electronic equipment for presentations. Voluntary organisations are encouraged to book by clicking here.
