25 new Covid-19 cases and 2 deaths reported, 22 in hospital, with 4 in ITU

25 new Covid-19 cases have been found overnight with 45 recoveries. Authorities said that during the last 24-hours, two men, aged 67 and 74, have passed away while Covid-19 positive.
A total of 22 Covid positive patients are currently being treated at Mater Dei Hospital, down from 25 yesterday, 4 of whom are in the ITU, down from 5 yesterday.
There have been 452 deaths since the start of the pandemic. The number of active cases in Malta and Gozo is now at 696.
The number of vaccines administered is 808,968 up until yesterday, of which 4,001 are booster doses, the authorities said.
The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control has advised that it will be reporting figures on a weekly basis – every Thursday. As of the 9th of September, it shows the number of cases recorded for Malta is at 36,512 and the number of deaths showing is 445. The 14-day cumulative number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 remains at 135.84.
The ECDC said that the above data are collected between Monday and Wednesday for the proceeding week.
