Restrictions to be eased for restaurants etc that only accept those with vaccination certificatesBars, restaurants and band clubs who only voluntarily allow those with vaccination certificates into their establishments, can from tomorrow, apply to reduce tables distances to a metre apart outside and a metre and a half apart inside, as part of the relaxation of some Covid-19 restrictions for certain criteria.

This measure will come into effect as from the second weekend in October, but only apply to said establishments, Health Minister Chris Fearne said on Tuesday.

Other measures relaxed include the number of persons at a table will rise from six to a maximum of eight persons in these establishments, with opening hours extended from 2am to 3am, should their license permit it. If music is allowed at the establishment, then the sound limit allowed will be 80 decibels.

It was explained that all staff must be fully vaccinated that work in the establishments. They may also start offering a controlled bar service, such as by placing a perspex screen between the staff and customers.

Dr Fearne added that the protocols will be published in the coming days.
