25 new Covid-19 cases were found overnight with 24 recoveries, the authorities said. 11 Covid positive patients are currently being treated at Mater Dei Hospital, including 1 patient in ITU.

There have been 459 deaths since the start of the pandemic. The number of active cases in Malta and Gozo is now at 290.

On Friday, Health Minister Chris Fearne announced restrictions would be reduced for events where fully vaccinated people are attending, including wedding functions.

From Monday, children under 12 will no longer need to take a test when attending an event with a fully vaccinated parent or guardian. Seating at tables will also increase from 6 at a table to 8.

Where fully vaccinated people are in attendance, outdoor tables can be 1 metre apart instead of 2, with indoor table changing to 1.5 metres apart instead of 2.

With regards to seated events, including cinemas and theatres, the distance will now be 300 metres instead of 100.

Also from Monday, public transport, including ferries, may operate at 80% of capacity.

Health Authorities said that the number of vaccines administered is 848,445 up until yesterday, of which 29,990 are booster doses.

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control has advised that it will be reporting figures on a weekly basis – every Thursday. As of the 14th of October, it shows the number of cases recorded for Malta is at 37,358 and the number of deaths showing is 459. The 14-day cumulative number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 is at 49.56.

The ECDC said that the above data are collected between Monday and Wednesday for the proceeding week.
