Four patients have passed away overnight while Covid positive. Three women aged 71, 76 and 93 and an 87-year old man, authorities have said.

Speaking during a press conference today, Health Minister Chris Fearne has that 92% of new cases are from the Omicron variant.

There were 462 new Covid-19 cases found overnight and 1,261 recoveries, which now takes the number of active cases in Malta and Gozo down to 12,301.

There are 108 patients requiring treatment in Mater Dei Hospital (which is the only hospital being reported) including 8 who are in ITU.

Authorities said there have now been 500 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

The number of booster doses administered up until yesterday is 293,394.
