The National Blood Transfusion Service would like to express its sincere thanks to the 59 people who so generously called called to donate blood at Xewkija last Sunday.

Among others, the Service thanked members of the new Gozo Community Police Service, as well as the Parish of St George in Victoria.

The Service continues to encourage more Gozitans to please come forward and donate blood at the next session, which is on Tuesday, the 22nd of February from 1pm to 5pm (last registration 5pm).

The centre is located at the Xewkija Clinic, in Triq tall- Hamrija, between the Primary School and the Bocci Club.

The Service reminds everyone that it is very important to always take your Identity Card, or Driving License or Maltese Passport and to drink plenty of water beforehand. Also, please encourage others to donate if possible.

Important notes

Those who have undergone the swab test, whether routine or due to travel, are asked to wait until a negative Covid-19 test result is given

As a general guideline, recipients of the Covid-19 vaccine including the booster dose or seasonal flu vaccine should wait 7 days after receiving the vaccine before going to donate blood.

If in the first 48 hours after vaccination, one does not have a fever or symptoms of illness, it can be given after 3 days. This also applies to those who have taken the seasonal flu vaccine.

Anyone who has tested positive for Covid will be able to donate blood two weeks after the end of the quarantine period.

Those who were in quarantine and were not positive for Covid will be able to donate blood as soon as the isolation period ends.
