The recovery and restart of tourism on Gozo will be again be the main theme of this year’s Annual General Meeting of the Gozo Tourism Association.

Tourism has been hard hit by the onset and the global spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, and the Association stressed that Gozo has been no exception to this, “with the destination’s total dependence on tourism, making the situation even more dire.”

It also pointed out that the post Covid-19 future for tourism will continue to pose several challenges.

Facts, figures and other vital information on tourism on Gozo will be shared with the Gozitan tourism operators present for this meeting. A new GTA Council will also be formed.

During the past year 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic the external activities of the Gozo Tourism Association continued to be restricted and effected. Several annual events during this period had to be postponed. However, the work of the Association continued just the same, offering support, information and guidance to its members, it said.

An overview of the Association’s performance during 2021, will also be delivered at this Annual General Meeting.

The Chairman of the Malta Tourism Authority Dr. Gavin Gulia will address members present, while the CEO of the Gozo Regional Development Authority Mr. Mario Borg will deliver a presentation on the role of GRDA and how it can augment value added to the Tourism industry in Gozo.

Finally, this Annual General Meeting will be also addressed by the Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri, the Minister for Tourism and Consumer Protection Clayton Bartolo, and the Opposition spokesperson for Gozo Dr. Chris Said.

This event is being held on Friday, the 25th of February, at the Kempinski Hotel San Lawrenz Gozo.

This AGM starts at 9.30am (registration time 9.00am).
