Police have said that a 30-year old Ghanaian man was charged under arrest at the Gozo Courts late this afternoon, where he pleaded not guilty to the charges, including murder and was held under arrest.

Investigations by the Major Crimes Unit and Gozo District Police led to the arrest of the man in connection with a woman who was murdered in Ghajnsielem, Gozo on Saturday.

Police said that on Tuesday afternoon, after the autopsy results were confirmed, the case was investigated as a homicide.

The murdered woman has been named in the media as 49-year old mother of three, Rita Ellul.
