Il-Hagar museum in Gozo, is hosting two short events of a book launch and the inauguration of a new Papal section within the museum.
Fr Geoffrey George Attard will be presenting his new translation into Maltese (about ninety pages) of a book by French author François Mauriac. This is taking place on Thursday, the 24th of March, at 7.30pm.
This winner of the Literature Nobel Prize published Le Jeudi-Saint in 1931, variously adapted into English as Holy Thursday: an Intimate Remembrance.
It mingles autobiographical memories with glimpses at the Last Supper and Eucharistic Doctrine. Fr Attard and Aaron Formosa will give short talks in Maltese and English respectively.
Immediately following the presentation, a new Papal section on level 2 will be inaugurated formally. Set up on the occasion of the visit by Pope Francis, the intention is to expand it later.
The two showcases already display documents and other Pontifical items such as a mitre, skullcaps and Cardinal Bergoglio’s cassock.
Participation is free of charge, but seat reservations by sending an email to events@heartofgozo.org.mt are recommended.
This cultural centre, which is located in St George’s Square, Victoria, is open from 9am to 5pm seven days a week.
