Voting in the General Election, got underway at 7am this morning. with 350,423 potential voters having until 10pm this evening to cast their vote. General Elections in Malta are known for their high attendance

1,442 people or 4.7% did not collect their voting documents in Gozo. District 13 was one of the highest districts with uncollected documents. In the June 3rd 2017 general election, 884 people did not collect their voting document in Gozo.

The campaign period was noted as the quietest election period in decades.

Ten voters who are able to vote without assistance are to enter into the Polling Booth for every voter who needs assistance to vote from the Assistant Electoral Commissioners.

The Electoral Commission has advised that the use of mobile phones, cameras and photographic equipment in polling places is prohibited. Anyone found contravening this regulation will have his/her equipment confiscated.

The polling stations close at 10pm and the votes are immediately taken to the Naxxar counting hall, where counting will start at 10am on Sunday morning. An indication of the result of the election is not expected until around noon tomorrow.

The longest legislature in Malta lasted for a total of 2,240 days between 1939 and 1945, while the shortest legislature lasted for a total of 173 days between 1950 and 1951.
