For the second day running the Health Authorities have failed to issue their infographic giving details on the daily number of new Covid-19 cases.
However, the Covid-19 Public Health Response Team have issued some details, with a spike of 603 new Covid cases reported overnight, the highest since early January and one death. There were 193 recoveries also noted.
No details were available for hospitalisations. There are now 4,685 active cases in Gozo and Malta.
The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control has categorised Malta as one of four countries of “very high concern,” along with Greece, Ireland and Liechtenstein. This applies to the latest data available at week 11 produced on the 24th of March.
Social media has been full of posts over the past days regarding the large crowds at political gatherings, many of whom were without masks, both at outdoor and indoor events, leading to speculation that the number of reported cases would start to rise over the coming days.
This comes as Prime Minister Robert Abela, in an address to the public on Monday evening, said that he would be lifting all the remaining Covid-19 restrictions, in consultation with health authorities, allowing people to “make their own personal choices.”
