Magro Brothers donate 750 treesThree Hills Brand Kunserva is 75 years old and to commemorate this Diamond Jubilee, Magro Brothers (Foods) Ltd will be sponsoring ten trees for every year that the Three Hills Brand has been serving the Maltese market.

These seven hundred and fifty trees will be planted at a prominent site in Marsalforn in a place identified by the Ministry for Gozo, which is being turned into a public garden by the Ministry. The maintenance and the day to day upkeep of this public garden will be under the responsibility of the Zebbug Local Council. Most of the trees that are being planted are indigenous trees and the garden will be aptly named “Gnejnet it-Tliet Gholjiet.”

This Public/Private initiative is another step in the direction of turning Gozo into an ecological island. “Magro Brothers are fully committed to the project of Eco-Gozo and we are very pleased that we have been given the opportunity to contribute towards this vision,” said Managing Director Mr John Magro, at a ceremony organised on the site to inaugurate this project.

Giovanna Debono, Minister for Gozo, praised the initiative taken by Magro Brothers which is in conformity with Government’s vision of making Gozo an eco-island. The site chosen for “Gnejnet it-Tliet Gholjiet” is also significant because it is a prominent site popular with tourists as well as many Gozitan and Maltese families. Mr Charles Saliba, Mayor of Zebbug, was also present for this event and expressed his satisfaction that Marsalforn will soon have another public place for the relaxation and enjoyment of locals and visitors.

Magro Brothers are firm believers in their corporate social responsibility especially towards Gozo. “Besides the direct support to the local farming community and assistance in social and cultural events organized in Gozo, we, at Magro Brothers, have several programmes currently running to support the environment, including energy-saving schemes, battery-operated transport vehicles, water recycling, paper conservation and waste separation practices to mention but a few schemes which we already operate in-house.”

“This year we will also be launching two new recipes of the Maltese favourite Three Hills Brand Kunserva, one with less salt and another version with less sugar. Our research and development team have been working on this project for two years and we hope that the Maltese public will respond positively to these new products. We have been very careful to keep intact the great taste of the traditional Three Hills Kunserva even in these new recipes,” added Mr Magro.

To commemorate the diamond jubilee of the Three Hills Brand, Magro Brothers have also launched various promotional activities which are already proving to be very successful. Magro Brothers are also inviting the public to visit their factory especially during the upcoming busy tomato season when they can view first-hand the process of turning Maltese tomatoes into Kunserva.
