Munxar Local Council has launched the – Enhancing the Locality’s Environmental, Cultural and Artistic Value Project.
It will include infrastructure investment in the locality, such as the construction of a belvedere in Triq Sqawi.
The project also involves mass activities, the first of which is the – Fireworks and Gastronomy Festival – taking place this coming Saturday, the 30th of April, from 7.30pm onwards in Triq Sqawi l-Munxar.
The evening will include a show by local bands such as The Travellers and Straitahead with a presentation by Ronald Briffa. A spectacular fireworks display will be synchronised to music. In addition, the festival will offer an opportunity to everyone who attends to eat traditional Maltese food – all for free.
The project is being set up by the Munxar Local Council in full collaboration with the Gozo Tourism Association, the Sezzjoni Zghazagh Pawlini Munxarin and the Munxar Falcons F.C.
The Project is co-financed by European funds managed by the Gozo Action Group Foundation under the Leader programme.
During a press conference by the Local Council, the Mayor of Munxar, Mr. Damien Spiteri, expressed his satisfaction that once again the Council will be benefiting from another project with funding from European Funds, he also urged people to attend this Saturday’s event.
Joe Muscat, CEO of the Gozo Tourism Association, expressed the need for high-level activities to continue in Gozo in order to attract tourism to the island.
Chairman of the Gozo Action Group Foundation, Joe Cordina, congratulated the Munxar Local Council for working to benefit from European funds offered for Gozo under the administration of the Gozo Action Group Foundation and he urged other Gozitan Local Councils to seize these opportunities.
The President of the Sezzjoni Zghazagh Pawlini Munxarin, Brendon Spiteri, thanked the Local Council for this opportunity, saying that as a union they are always ready to collaborate in the artistic and cultural field within the village of Munxar.
