A special edition of the Nadur Spontaneous Carnival will be held later this month following an absence of two years. The carnival, which always attracts large crowds of Maltese and tourists, will this year be spread over three days.

The Nadur Spontaneous Carnival is renowned for the “fertility of the imagination of all who take part in it,” the organisers said.

“Nadur Carnival is traditional, where with its spontaneity it takes us back in time and shows us how in the past Carnival was a way to have fun and convey its message through satire,” said Gozo Minister Clint Camilleri, during the launch event.

The Minister praised the commitment of the Nadur Local Council on its organisation of the process necessary for the success of this mass activity, saying that, “it will be done with the least possible inconvenience to the residents.”

He also stressed that “everyone should have fun responsibly and with full respect for the law.”

Nadur Mayor Edward Said, expressed his pleasure that the carnival was returning, saying that “Nadur is synonymous with this carnival which has now become an integral part of the rich cultural calendar that Gozo has to offer.”

He thanked the Minister for Gozo for both the financial and logistical support of this special edition.

The Nadur Spontaneous Carnival will take place on Friday the 20th, Saturday the 21st, and Sunday the 22nd of May, after sunset.
