Starting this Sunday, Il-Hagar Museum in Victoria is hosting an Anne Frank exhibition, which will be open to the public until the 25th of July.

This international travelling exhibition has been created by the Anne Frank House of Amsterdam and the Tayar Foundation for Jewish Heritage in Malta.

Let me be myself – will be set up around level 2 (including AV2) and has two sections. The historical section focuses on Anne and her family while the contemporary part features struggles with prejudice and discrimination by modern-day youngsters.

The Tayar Foundation noted that this worldwide exhibition uses this Holocaust victim to teach about contemporary human rights issues.

Posters, videos, an impressive model of the famous house and some Malta stamps with Judaica connections can also be viewed.

In addition to informing visitors about the history of the Holocaust from the perspective of Anne Frank and her family, the exhibition also focuses on highlighting the fact that cultural, ethnic, religious, and political differences between people exist in every society.

In this context, it challenges visitors to think about concepts such as tolerance, mutual respect, human rights, and democracy and helps them understand that a society where differences between people are respected does not come about by itself.

It should be noted that Jewish coins and other items are included in this museum’s permanent exhibits.

Il-Hagar is open 9am to 5pm seven days a week, with no entrance fee. It is also presently offering an art exhibition by Debbie Bonello and Andrew Borg.
