The Nationalist Party has said that “public land such as Comino’s Blue Lagoon to belong to everyone and not just Government-protected people.”
PN spokespersons Robert Arrigo and Rebekah Cilia, went on to ask why all deckchairs had not been removed from Comino.
They said that the PN “has been closely monitoring the situation of deckchairs and umbrella operators in Comino and is wondering why all deckchairs were not removed from Blue Lagoon beach now that Minister Clayton Bartolo has announced that deckchairs will not be allowed on the sandy beach, but they will be left on the pier.”
They also questioned that “since it is known that an agreement was in place with the operators between 2015 and 2017, if there is currently no agreement, why have not all deckchairs and umbrellas been removed?”
The PN Spokespersons pointed out that the Blue Lagoon is on every tourist brochure and website. “But what is being sold on these brochures is not what tourists are finding.”
The Nationalist Party said that “public land is to be enjoyed by all and not just those protected by the Government” and called for the “necessary enforcement and for this to be a priority when it comes to public land.”

Read properly before you speak. Minister said that Deck chairs will not be allowed to be placed empty anywhere in the blue Lagoon. They are permitted to be placed when they are accompanied by a client who paid the €20.00 or so. This is what is done everywhere else except on private beaches. The owners of deckchairs were placing empty chairs everywhere leaving no room for others who did not want to rent. The minister also said that deckchairs are not allowed to be placed on the sand rented or personal. I can’t believe sometimes what is blabbered out just to say something.
