During the month of June, Malta International Airport registered a 10.1% decline in passenger movements. This results in an average decrease of 10.9% for the first six months of 2009 when compared to the corresponding period last year.

The total passenger movements on scheduled and non-scheduled flights in June 2009 was of 277,833 a decline of 31,313 when compared to June 2008. Likewise, both aircraft movements and cargo & mail figures registered a decline of 3.7% and 2.6% respectively.

Passenger traffic for main markets, UK and Germany, decreased by 6.1%, and 14.5% respectively, whilst the Italian market saw an increase of 9.6% when compared to June 2008.

The busiest day in June 2009 was the 30th in terms of passengers with 13,345 movements whilst the highest number of aircraft movements totalled to 98 on the 28th.
