Blue Flag certification of the Blue Lagoon should be the first step to protect the environmental sustainability of the area, said Zminijietna.

The Left think-tank organisation called upon the Environment Minister Miriam Dalli, to introduce the relevant changes to the management and upkeep of Comino Blue Lagoon, in order, to incorporate the area under the Blue Flag certification.

It added that the Blue Flag works towards sustainable development of the areas listed, dealing with quality of sea water, environmental management, education and information, safety, and other services.

Zminijietna – Voice of the Left, concluded by saying that it supports Moviment Graffitti’s demands to the government, to take urgent action to return the Blue Lagoon in Comino to the public and stop deckchair vendors from covering the entire shoreline with deckchairs and umbrellas.
