The Malta Met Office has issued a “be prepared” orange warning, with the maximum temperature today expected to reach 39°C and a “feel like” temperature of 41°C.
The local Met Office weather station at Xewkija in Gozo was showing a temperature of 38°C earlier this afternoon.
The low tonight is forecast to be 27°C.
Similar temperatures are expected for Thursday, before windy weather arriving on the Maltese Islands on Friday bringing a little relief for a couple of days.
