A commemorative event for H. M. Queen Elizabeth II was held on Monday evening in Sannat.
This special evening took place outside the “Lace House” in Piazzetta Tax-Xelina, where in 1951 the Queen, at that time Princess, made an official visit to see where lace was being made.
The commemorative recital included musical interventions by Soprano Antonella Rapa and Trumpeter Jason Camilleri, accompanied on the piano by Amy Rapa.
Philomena Ricards read from a Biography about Her Majesty and Susan Warner read the poem ‘For my Queen’ which was written by Susan Jarvis Bryant.
Canon Rev John Muscat said a prayer for the Queen’s suffrage and the Mayor of Sannat Philip Vella, together with Councillor Francis Galea placed a wreath of flowers under the image of the Queen in place for that evening.
The evening ended with the Last Post, a Minute of Silence and the playing of ‘God Save the King’ and the Maltese National Anthem.
The event was organised by the Sannat Local Council in full collaboration with the JP2 Foundation.
