Three Gozo parishes, namely St. George, Kercem and Xewkija, will be benefiting from financial assistance through a scheme launched by the EcoGozo Directorate within the Ministry for Gozo.

The parishes will use the funding on new lighting systems for the facades of their churches, bell towers and architectural features using LED lights that consume far less energy.

The Ministry for Gozo said that in addition, the intensity of the lighting will be able to be programmed so that it can be gradually lowered or turned off completely during the night in order to reduce light pollution.

Gozo Minister Clint Camilleri presided over the signing of the agreements.
