Gozo Ministry denies privatisation plans for Gozo Channel

The Ministry for Gozo, in a statement has denied that any process is being drawn up for the privatisation of the Gozo Channel.
Earlier today, the PN had claimed that they had received information that the Government was planning to privatise the company
“The Government is committed to connectivity, service efficiency and accessibility between Malta and Gozo,” the Ministry said.
It added that, “this Government, is in fact, committed to continue investing in the company, which has improved the service in recent years.”
“This Government has been, and will, continue to put connectivity between the islands on the national agenda,” the Ministry said.
It pointed out that a request had been made before the European Commission to allow for help to be granted to the fast ferry operators “so that the service is not only strengthened but serves more functions,and that an application was made before the Planning Authority for a Rural Airfield in Gozo.
