The musical, entitled “Besieged”, is to be held on the St. Michael’s Bastions at the Victoria Citadel on Friday the 31st of July.
This anniversary performance, which will be under the patronage of Dr. George Abela, President of Malta, is taking place at the same location as the historic event itself and within days of the actual attack taking place 458 years ago.
Some may have seen the premier performance which took place in September last year under the direction of Terry Shaw who wrote the music. The script is by David Crewe who was then also resident in Gozo.
The principals starring in the show are the very popular local artistes, Ludwig Galea, Georgina Gauci and Mary Rose Mallia. The chorus comprises mainly Gozitan singers from local choirs with a few British residents adding their voice.
The performance starts at 9pm prompt but the doors will open at 8pm. Seating will be on ‘a first come, first served’ basis and there will be one interval.
Before the show and during the interval, a variety of the splendid wines from the Ta ‘Mena Estate of Gozo, plus a selection of Gozitan food delicacies will be available.
Also in attendance will be the renowned Gozitan artist, Paul Stellini, who as well as having an exhibition of his works, will also be capturing the evening on canvas.
The organisers invite everyone to come early, select their seats and enjoy the sunset from the Bastions while sipping a glass of Ta ‘Mena wine or a cool refreshing drink, whilst observing the creativity of Paul Stellini.
Tickets, priced at €15, are now available from Bookworm, Victoria, Carolyn Clements via email to carolync@maltanet.net or telephone 21559679, Kate Nelson via email to katenelson@waldonet.net.mt or Frances Barnes on telephone number 21561647.
