Expressions – is an exhibition of the latest expressive paintings by Rachel Galea, which will be opening at Il-Hagar Museum in Victoria on the 4th of December until the 10th of January.
The museum explained that in this work on display the artist mainly used the impasto technique, helping her to achieve the texture and movement she aims at to evoke an emotional reaction from the viewer.
Prof Louis Laganà – Associate Professor at the University of Malta, an art historian, critic and artist – notes her amazing maturation and the fact that she “humanises her landscapes and transmits a transcendental experience. Lush vegetation and flowers, the sea and light seem to be important inspirations for this artist born in 1973, whose works have found their way into numerous local and foreign collections.”
The accompanying catalogue is published as Il-Hagar GEMS 22.
The museum acknowledge support from the Malta Tourism Authority, the Gozo Ministry’s Cultural Directorate and other institutions.
Il-Hagar Museum is located in St George’s Square, and is open 9am to 5pm seven days a week, without any entrance fee.
