During Christmas Eve Night, the Malta Police together with the Armed Forces of Malta, carried out several road checks around Malta and Gozo.

Police said that during these inspections, more than 550 vehicles were stopped and several persons were charged for violating traffic regulations.

These included driving without a valid licence, driving without insurance, driving without seat belts, driving under the influence and vehicles with tinted glass.

The Police expressed its thanks to the general public for their cooperation, where no major accidents were reported throughout the night.
