The Nationalist Party has insisted that the public should know exactly what the circumstances were that led to the fire at the Gozo General Hospital on Christmas Day.

“Fortunately no one was injured, but there are many questions that remain unanswered,” the PN said in a statement.

While thanking the Civil Protection workers, the nurses and the doctors who gave the necessary and timely help to the patients, the PN said that the incident had raised various questions that the public want answered, including:

– What led to the fire in the ‘server room’?

– How long was if before the call for help was made?

– Were there sufficient health and safety measures?

Above all, the PN said, “the public are still wondering what happened to the investment in the new hospital that was supposed to be built in Gozo, but of which there is not yet even a hint.”

The Nationalist Party emphasised the need for the Government to be transparent about this issue, particularly in light of the millions that the Government is still giving each year to Steward. Also that such incidents do not happen again.”
