The third and final episode in the Gaulitana’s ‘Viva l’Opera’ virtual operatic series – L’Elisir d’Amore – is being premiered next Tuesday, the 31st of January.
It will be streamed free on the Gaulitana: A Festival of Music facebook page and YouTube channel, starting at 7pm and remains available on the organisation’s digital platforms.
The episode from Gaetano Donizetti’s comic opera masterpiece features Maltese artists Nicola Said (soprano) and Cliff Zammit Stevens (tenor).
The Malta Philharmonic Orchestra is conducted by the Gaulitana’s own artistic director Colin Attard.
The scenes from L’Elisir d’Amore,’, directed by Denise Mulholland, were filmed at Gozo’s historic Ta’ Kola Windmill, Xaghra, courtesy of Heritage Malta.
‘L’Elisir d’Amore’ will bring to an end the festival’s ‘Viva l’Opera’ series and the two cinematic operatic series put on by the festival in these last years in lieu of the festival’s live operatic production, which now returns on April the 29th, with ‘La Traviata.’
‘Viva l’Opera’ has the full collaboration of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra as well as the backing of the MTA, the Istituto Italiano di Cultura and BOV.
