The Directive has been lifted regarding ferry ticket purchases for members of the Malta Police Union, it said that the system has now been amended and will revert back as it was prior to the introduction of the Gozo Channel e-ticketing system.

The Police Force will therefore procure the tickets and these will be available for Police requiring to attend to Malta/Gozo as part of their ongoing duty, but not to travel to and from home, the union said.

A directive had been issued earlier today that was due to come into force on Saturday for union members not to purchase any ferry tickets for themselves and/or a Police vehicle when they are on duty.

The union said that the reason being was that “since Gozo Channel changed to the e-ticketing system, Police officers have been asked to purchase the tickets themselves (at the booth) and then request a refund.” the union said.
