A 39-year old woman from Zebbug, Gozo was grievously injured after being hit by a car in Victoria, on Sunday morning.

Police said that the accident happened at around 11.45am in Triq Taht Putirjal.

Initial investigations showed that the victim was hit by a Volkswagen Golf that was being driven by a 21-year old man from Ghajnsielem.

The woman was assisted at the scene by a medical team before being taken to the Gozo General Hospital.

Police investigations are ongoing.
