Spring hunting for quail opens this coming Monday, the 10th of April, the Ministry for Gozo has said.

The national quota is 2,400 quail and there are no individual quotas for hunters.

It said that Legal Notice 78/2023 declaring the quail hunting season, was published today.

The quail hunting season will be until the 30th of April, from two hours before sunrise to noon during all days of the season.

The Ministry said that every quail that is hunted must be reported immediately and anyone who goes out hunting and does not catch anything must report the hunting effort, as explained in the Special Licence.

“Any development regarding the opening of Turtle-dove hunting from the 17th to the 30th of April will be announced immediately,” the Ministry said.
