An Easter celebration concert with the Gozo Community Choir is taking place on Saturday at St Paul’s Shipwreck Church, Munxar.
Entitled – Pete, his keys, music and the Gozo Community Choir, the concert gets underway at 8pm, on Saturday, the 15th of April. Entrance is free and no reservations are required.
The choir said that it will be asking for donations for the Turkey/Syria earthquake appeal and a Fr Raymond Portelli’s mission in Peru, which is being visited by a group from Munxar in July.
The programme for the evening includes, Mozart, Attwood, a gospel Amazing Grace arrangement and You Raise me Up, to name but a few, together with several pieces written by Peter Thomas, the musical director, which “reflect his new life on the island.”
The concert culminates in a finale of the Hallelujah chorus and a new Toccata written for the occasion.
The choir, which was formed in 2017, meets on Tuesdays at Munxar Parish Centre 6.30pm and “welcomes anyone with enthusiasm, music readers or non readers alike. Last year, we were proud to represent Malta in an event organised by Commonwealth Resounds for the Queens Jubilee.”
The Gozo Community Choir recently gained VO status ( VO 2368) and enjoy the support of the local community and beyond, “providing our unique blend of musical genres from Mozart to Mamma Mia to those who come to listen.”
