Works in connection with another project coordinated by the Fontana Local Council are envisaged to be initiated soon after the conclusion of the parish festivities in honour of The Sacred Heart of Jesus.

The project entails the extensive restructuring and embellishment works in the area within and around the playing field.

The Council said that it managed to secure funding of €68,975 for this project by submitting a relative application in the Projects within the Localities scheme managed by LESA in collaboration with the Local Councils Association.

The Council will be financing another €30,000 from its own funds. Following the completion of the tender process, the Council said that it entered into an agreement with the contractor who will be performing the first phase of the related works.

These will include the scraping and removal of the existing deteriorated paving materials and their replacement with new concrete, membrane and porfido paving.

The Council explained that the subsequent works within the project will incorporate the acquisition and installation of new equipment and rubber flooring offering added security to the youngsters who frequent the playing field.

The Council stated that it “continues to strengthen its commitment towards the implementation of sustainable projects that result in improved public spaces that offer a better quality of life and added security whilst promoting healthier lifestyles within the locality of Fontana.”
