Festa Ghagina – First edition, is being organised by the Sannat Local Council, with the main aim of bringing back to the people traditional Gozitan and Maltese dishes with wheat as their primary ingredient.

Different types of bread, pizza, ftajjar, traditional Gozitan pies, pasta (including fresh pasta) and sweet pastry items like imqaret will be available through the stalls set up by different local bakeries and confectioners. Besides tasting different foods, visitors will also have the opportunity to watch cooking by a professional chef.

The event, the first of its kind, will take place at Pjazzetta Cocco Palmieri, on Saturday, the 10th of June, from 6.00pm onwards.

This fun and educational activity for the whole family will include a children’s play area with a bouncy castle. Children can also try their hand at cookie decorating at one of the stalls.

Kantera and StraitAhead will be providing the entertainment for the crowds during the evening.Festa Ghagina Sannat - A reminder of traditional Gozitan and Maltese wheat dishesKantera will bring their original songs together with other Maltese song covers. They will also play one of their upcoming songs for the first time, together with others that go way back to the 1930s but with a modern folk sound, thus perfectly matching the concept of Festa Ghagina as an event trying to promote local traditional foods.

StraitAhead will delight the crowd with favourites like Wicked Game, Rockin All Over the World, Dreamer, Purple Rain, To Love Somebody, What’s Up, Living Next Door to Alice, Xemx and others.Festa Ghagina Sannat - A reminder of traditional Gozitan and Maltese wheat dishesFootball fans have not been forgotten either, because at 9pm they will be able to tune in to watch the UEFA Champions League Final, between Manchester City and Inter on a big screen that will be set up in the square.
