San Lawrenz Council to report on long-term strategySan Lawrenz Local Council along with that of Dingli and Hamrun were selected from a series of applications to prepare a report on how to create a long-term strategy for a sustainable locality. The presentation of funds to carry out this task was recently held at the Had Dingli Local Council.

To help it prepare it’s report, San Lawrenz Local council were given €15,000. The report will be completed after consulting with the local organisations as well as with the residents.

This report is going to be based on the study of three main areas – infrastructure, identity and sustainability. This research will focus on a strategy on how to improve standards of living and also on how to attract quality tourism to the San Lawrenz locality.

Another significant and important purpose of this study is to put the locality into the forefront of regional benefits. On the whole this study will create a strategy where decisions will be taken in a holistic and sustainable manner.

Dr Chris Said Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government together with the Director of Department for Local Government and the President of the Local Councils’ Association were present for this ceremony. In his speech, the Mayor of San Lawrenz, Noel Formosa, gave his thanks to the Government and also explained the aims of the Local Council for this project.

The Vice Mayor and the Councilors along with the Executive Secretary of the Council were also present for this occasion.
