An 80-year old man lost his life while swimming at a bay close to Mgarr Harbour, Gozo.

Elderly man dies while swimming close to Mgarr Harbour

Police said that the man had gone for a swim at around 5pm on Friday afternoon and was spotted in difficulty be people on the shore.

The man, who is from Nadur, was brought ashore for first aid by medics. However, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Magistrate Brigitte Sultana is leading an Inquiry.

Police investigations are ongoing.
