The next Works in Progress Seminar Series (WIPSS) by the Faculty of Arts, University of Malta will this time be a webinar on – A Gated Community in Bangalore prior to and at the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.

This will be presented by Janet Fenech, who has an MA in Anthropology by research. Ms Fenech is interested in community studies and also an artist and aerialist.

This seminar discusses the nature of segregation between gated community residents (middle-class Indian repatriate IT workers), their service providers and the rest of the city, prior to and during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Connections are made between cleanliness, class, Hinduism and altruism. It debates the idea of whether a gated community could enable forms of collective collaboration with the city.

Convenors are Prof Michael Briguglio, Francois Zammit and Daniella Debono.

The WIPSS webinar is on Tuesday, the 9th of January, between 6pm-8pm, at the Faculty of Arts Library, 2nd floor, Old Humanities Building, University of Malta.
