Nature Trust – FEE Malta said that it ended 2023 with “a small clean-up on the beloved Comino Natura 2000,” together with Nadur Nadif, Din l-Art Helwa and S-Cubed – Science Students’ Society.

NTM stated that, “we strongly believe better management of Comino stakeholders is needed where the ultimate goal is to have a tranquil place which all people can enjoy safely, along marked trails without disco music which does not belong to Comino.”

The NGO stressed that “this jewel in our archipelago must really be given more credit and appreciation for what it is: A NATURE RESERVE rich in natural heritage, history and tranquillity.”

It added that “parts of Comino are unfortunately still blighted by noise from excessive music and generators, fast food smells and litter generated from enterprises vying to make a quick buck from tourists even during December.”

NTM said that it has “seen attempts to try to educate tourists to manage the litter responsibly – but it is not enough.”
