Gozo is ready and waiting to welcome the thousands of people, both local and tourists, who will be visiting the island for the very popular Carnival weekend.

Weather permitting the fun gets underway on Friday when Carnival opens with the Gozo Regional Carnival and the Nadur Spontaneous Carnival, both of which will run until the 13th of February.

The Nadur Spontaneous Carnival, which grows in popularity from year to year, will take place from the 9th to the 13th of February after sunset.

As already advised, Malta Public Transport is running special bus services to Nadur over the weekend.

The programme for the five days of Carnival fever is as follows:

Friday 9th February 6pm-11pm: Official opening Grand Defile’ along Republic Street to Independence Square.

Followed by a spectacle of dance companies, grotesque masks and the traditional Komittiva in Independence Square.

Saturday 10th February 9am-12pm: Children’s Carnival, Independence Square.

6pm-11pm: Defile’ along Republic Street to Independence Square.

Dance spectacle with the participation of dance companies, together with triumphal floats, grotesque masks, “Il-Komittiva” and special guests.

Sunday 11th February 3pm-10pm: Defile’ along Republic Street to Independence Square..

Dance spectacle with the participation of dance companies together with triumphal floats, grotesque masks, bands, “Il-Komittiva” humorous sketches.

Monday 12th February 5pm-11pm: Defile’ along Republic Street to Independence Square.

Dance spectacle with the participation of dance companies together with triumphal floats, grotesque masks, “Il-Komittiva,” bands and humorous sketches.

Tuesday 12th February 5pm-11pm: Grand Finale along Republic Street to Independence Square.

Dance spectacle with the participation of dance companies together with triumphal floats, grotesque masks, humorous sketches and local bands.
