Gozo now has a second Marine Centre, following the inauguration by the Ghajnsielem Local Council of a state-of-the-art educational centre dedicated to the sea around us together with a new public library.

This centre is equipped with the latest interactive technology and offers an educational experience about the fishing industry, traditional Maltese boats, the protection of the marine environment and interesting information about the type of fish which can be caught in the Mediterranean Sea.Ghajnsielem marine educational centre and library inauguratedThis project was carried out with an investment of €150,000 and financed through European Union funds under the ‘Interreg Italia-Malta’ programme ‘AMPPA’ and ‘Corallo.’

In addition to a maritime centre, the building will host a new public library with direct access to a primary school where students take the opportunity to learn in a colourful environment full of educational material.

Part of this centre is also dedicated to the port of Mgarr and includes several old photographs as well as a digital library displayed on interactive kiosks.Ghajnsielem marine educational centre and library inauguratedhe project was officially inaugurated by G?ajnsielem Mayor Kevin Cauchi, the Parliamentary Secretariat for Local Government Alison Civelli Zerafa and the Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri.
