First-time buyers who bought property in 2023, have until the end of April to apply for a grant to receive €10,000 over 10 years, the Government said.

Minister for Social and Affordable Accommodation Roderick Galdes announced that over 1,800 first-time property purchasers in 2023 have already sought the €10,000 grant disbursed over a decade.

This initiative aims to support new homeowners. Reflecting on the previous year, Minister Galdes highlighted that more than 2,800 individuals who took the significant step of buying their first home in 2022 have received their first instalment of €1,000 as part of this scheme and will receive the second of ten payments this year.

“This year, starting from June, first-time property purchasers from last year will receive their initial €1,000 instalment, part of a decade-long support scheme,” he said.

Minister Galdes added, “a key economic advantage of this initiative is the contribution to our country’s homeownership rate, which stands at 82% – among the highest in Europe.”
