The Xaghra Local Council has recognised the contribution of all those who, during the last 30 years, have served in the council.
The ceremony was part of a celebration of 30 years of Local Councils in Malta and Gozo which reached this milestone in 2023.
It was on the 30th of June, 1993 that Act number 15, 767 was issued, by law by the Parliament of Malta to provide the establishment of Local Councils in Malta and Gozo.
Present for the event in Xaghra was Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri, who stressed about “the role of local councils in the heart of our communities, where they really continue to make a difference to our citizens.”
The Minister also encouraged more people to come forward and form part of the local council, so that every locality has a worthy representation that puts its interests first and foremost.
