Victoria’s Leone Band has announced details of this years 8th edition of Leone Goes Pop. With Victoria’s city centre in the midst of massive infrastructural works, the Leone Band said that it has seized the opportunity to try out something completely different and innovative.

“Therefore, for the first time ever, Leone Goes Pop will be spectacularly produced at the Villa Rundle public gardens, transforming the 8-year old open-air concert into a kind of mini-festival for all ages.”

It will feature a 90-piece wind band, together with singers Raquel and Kurt Calleja. Colin Attard leads musicians and audiences during a 90-minute rush of non-stop music from the European and American continents.

“From the legendary Led Zeppelin and the nostalgic 883, all the way to Cuba and Mexico, the Leone and its audience, will inject life and party at the city’s historic gardens to an eclectic mix of Latin, rock, jazz, pop and blues music,” the Band said.

Seating will be provided, with some priority-seating allowed for subscription members of the Leone Philharmonic Society (reserved via info@leone.org.mt or 21562974), and the remaining on a first-come-first-served basis.

“However, the Villa Rundle Gardens allow for a very comfortable standing event that makes dance and movement to the trans-continental rhythms way, way, easier!”

Leone Goes Pop, is being held on Saturday, the 13th of June, staring at 9.00pm. Entrance at the Villa Rundle Gardens is free of charge.
